Bunch of Brunches: Faves for New Orleans Breakfast

New Orleans is world famous for a great number of reasons, and one of the biggest being food! Travel lists for food will often feature New Orleans at the top, with brunch being a popular staple. Depending on what kind of atmosphere you’re looking for, there is a spot for any occasion. Here’s just a handful of breakfast and brunch joints we here at Rathbone Mansions recommend, all within a comfortable distance.

First up is the local chain favorite Ruby Slipper Café. Just a quick walk away from us here at Rathbone Mansions, Ruby Slipper Café serves a wonderful brunch over on Burgundy St. One of many locations scattered around the city, this neighborhood spot remains most popular with locals for its short distance away from the French Quarter, nestled in the Marigny area. Delicious breakfast options, with outdoor seating and friendly service and family friendly feel, this spot is a fave with tourists and locals alike.

Quintessential New Orleans brunch can be found at The Court of Two Sisters in the French Quarter. A little more on the upscale side, The Court of Two Sisters is a restaurant known for its Creole menu, beautiful courtyard, and most importantly their daily jazz brunches. Right in the heart of it all on Royal St., this spot offers the full Nola experience of food, jazz, and ambiance.

Take your hunger out on the Mississippi with a reservation for Sunday Brunch on the Steamboat Natchez. Hugely popular for its jazz brunch out on the water, the Steamboat Natchez offers a fantastic two-hour historical tour of the Mississippi River while serving food and music. Plan ahead of time to book your cruise, it fills up fast and can be reserved weeks in advance. If you’re looking for a lovely experience that hits essential New Orleans travel checklists, you can’t beat this music, food, and history boat ride.

Looking for a jazz brunch, but a little more low-key? Then head on down the 5-minute walk to our favorite place- Buffa’s! Down the road from us here at Rathbone Mansions, Buffa’s usual fare is American style lunch and dinner, but they offer a great Sunday Jazz brunch. Featuring live local jazz bands, every Sunday at Buffa’s will have music in your ear and a belly full of brunch!

Now jazz brunches are a Nola staple, but there are so many other entertainment options for your morning. Over at Jinx Bar and Grill, every Saturday and Sunday hosts a Burlesque Brunch. Located near French Market, you can stroll right from Rathbone Mansions over to their 1pm brunch featuring local Burlesque acts. Another great option for alternative entertainment we recommend is The Country Club. Situated in the Bywater area, The Country Club serves up a Drag Brunch every Saturday and Sunday. Wildly popular, call ahead in advance for this fun brunch reservation at this beautiful location.

Try a little brunch every morning of your stay at Rathbone Mansions, or pick a favorite as your standby! The choices are endless here to explore, with classic options with old school flair sharing space with new and upcoming spots. Discover a brunch you love and let us know, we are always looking for an excuse to eat and be entertained here in Crescent City!
