Any history buffs in the family? Then they will definitely enjoy a Crescent City favorite spot, The National WWII Museum. Just a quick bus stop away from us here at Rathbone Mansions, this museum is packed with history, but also lots of entertainment. From a vintage inspired singing trio, to exclusive exhibits, to an all-immersive sound and lights show-The WWII Museum is favorite amongst all age groups. In a beautifully designed modern building, this historic museum is a must see!

Following in the immersive trend is our next spot for groups-JAMNOLA. Locally curated art and artists feed into this event space, showcasing New Orleans culture in bright and beautiful exhibits. Great for groups, this venue is walkable, with many exhibitions being fully interactive. While it’s just a 5-minute drive from Rathbone Mansions, we suggest walking there, as you get to walk through the vibrant Marigny area. Everyone will be able to experience the flavor of the neighborhood before seeing art installations that reflect the city.

If the family is looking for a little more adventure, look no further than a kayak swamp tour! Different from the airboat swamp tours usually advertised, a kayak tour will still take you out to the swamp, but everyone gets their own kayak to paddle. Great for groups who like the outdoors and want to experience the nature of New Orleans and surrounding Louisiana. Swamp tour guides are some of the most informative guides, so if you’ve got a gator question, they can definitely answer. And most will do shuttle service pick up, so you can roll out of your Rathbone Mansion bed, grab some breakfast, and head right out to your trip.

Looking to stick closer to the city, but still enjoy a beautiful view? Don’t wait and grab tickets for the always popular Evening Jazz Cruise on the Steamboat Natchez. Take in the views of the Mississippi River while dining at the buffet, dancing to the live jazz band, and learning history from the on-board guide. There are many different types of daily cruises that are offered here in New Orleans, and this one is the most popular-so book early so you don’t miss out!

Last but certainly not least is Mardi Gras World-another can’t miss spot. Always wanted to experience Mardi Gras, but never able to make it here during the season? Well don’t fret, because the whole family can tour the place where the floats rest for the year. With private and group tours available, Mardi Gras World offers a fun and educational time. See parade floats up close, and even get to make your own mini-float or Mardi Gras mask. Come show off what you made to us here at Rathbone Mansions-we might even reward with some beads!
